That total also tied a franchise record...Surged at the end of the season; gaining 154 yards in the last seven games...Averaged 5.3 yards per carry in that span... Led the league among fullback/linebackers with eight sacks...That total was not only a career high, but a franchise record...Began the season at San Jose (5/1) by rambling for 41 yards on six carries, including a 25-yard score in the second quarter...Against Nashville (5/9) Made a tackle, an assist and consistently pressured Kats QB Andy Kelly...Gained 16 yards on eight carries and scored on a three-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the game against Houston (5/16)... At Florida, (5/23), he went over the 1,000-yard mark on a three-yard carry with one minute left in the game...Finished with six yards on four carries...Added a sack and three total tackles on defense...One week later at New Jersey (5/30), he fell back below 1,000 yards but got it back on his next carry; he ended the game with 1,006 yards for his career after running for five yards on three carries...His biggest play, though, came on a third quarter pass rush; he hit New Jersey quarterback Rickey Foggie, forced him to fumble, and then pounced on the loose ball in the end zone for a score and a 50-21 lead...Against New York (6/6), he scored a career-high three touchdowns, and added to his all-time rushing total by gaining eight yards on six carries...Caught one pass for nine yards in the third quarter...Made one solo tackle and two assists as he was named the Tinactin Ironman of the Game...Gained Tinactin Ironman honors for the second game in a row at Orlando (6/12), gaining three yards on four carries and scored the Storm's first touchdown of the game on a one-yard plunge late in the first quarter to tie the score at 7-7...Led Storm linebackers with three tackles...Gained 24 yards on seven carries against Albany (6/20)...Set up his only touchdown of the game with a 12-yard rush around left end; the ramble gave the Storm first-and-goal from the one-yard-line...Led linebackers in total tackles with four...Made one huge play in the third quarter, sacking Albany QB Mike Pawlawski on a third-and- seven play and stripping the ball; the fumble was recovered by the Firebirds but it forced them into a 54-yard field goal attempt...One week later against Orlando (6/27), he turned in his second strong rushing game in succession, gaining 23 yards on three carries, including a 14-yard rush in the first quarter, his longest single run since Week One...Scored on a six-yard run with 2:46 left in the fourth quarter; he intended to run around right end, but, seeing all lanes clogged, he reversed his field and crossed the gridiron horizontally to the left sideline before dashing in to give the Storm a 49-30 lead; it was quite possibly the longest six-yard run in Arena Football history...Recovered a Bruce LaSane fumble in the fourth quarter to set up his cross-field heroics...One week later, he was named Tinactin Ironman of the Game and league Ironman of the Week...Scored a career-high three rushing touchdowns on runs of five, six and nine yards...Rambled for 22 yards on just four carries...Posted two sacks for 11 yards and added three unassisted tackles... Although he was not honored as Ironman of the Game one week later against Florida (7/12), he did post Ironman numbers...Recorded two sacks for 18 yards...On one sack, he forced Bobcat QB Fred McNair to fumble...Posted two unassisted tackles... Ran once for three yards and caught one pass for four yards...Five days later at Nashville (7/17), he gained 22 yards on just two carries...Hauled in two passes for 10 yards...On the Storm's first scoring drive against the Kats, late in the second quarter, he accounted for 24 out of the team's 35 yards...In Week 13 against Iowa (7/25), he gained a team-high 17 yards on four carries, scoring on a one-yard rush on the Storm's first possession of the third quarter...Posted four total tackles, including two unassisted, and one sack for six yards...In the regular season finale at Grand Rapids (8/1), he rambled for a season-high 43 yards on just eight carries...Scored two touchdowns...Kept the Storm's final drive alive with a key nine-yard-rush on fourth-and-one from the Rampage's 15-yard-line...Scored the winning touchdown from four yards out two plays later with 18 seconds on the clock... Defensively, posted one assist....Began the postseason with a bang, scoring two touchdowns and gaining 24 yards on the ground against San Jose (8/8)... One week later against New Jersey (8/14), he gained eight yards on one carry and had the game's only sack, on Rickey Foggie...Had a forgettable game in the ArenaBowl XII disaster, losing two yards on his only carry and only posting one assist on defense. 1999: Endured a bizarre offseason that saw him left unprotected by the Storm in the expansion draft, selected by Buffalo in that draft, and then traded with Bjorn Nittmo back to the Storm in February...Scored on a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against Albany (4/24) to pull the Storm within 21-14...Ended the loss to the Firebirds with seven yards on five carries...Five days later at Milwaukee (4/29), he posted his first solo tackle of the season and gained four yards on four carries...Also caught his first pass of the season, a four-yarder...Hit two significant milestones in the 43-12 win over Florida (5/15)...First, he scored two touchdowns---one in the second quarter and another in the fourth---which put him at 60 rushing touchdowns for his career. Second, he gained a team-high 18 yards, wish pushed the AFL's all-time leading rusher to the 1200-yard mark...He also hauled in a 19-yard screen pass from Peter Tom Willis late in the third quarter that set up the Storm's fifth touchdown of the evening...However, his biggest play of the night came on defense, with 2:03 left in the second quarter. With Florida facing 2nd-and-10 at its own five-yard-line, Barley broke through the Bobcat line to nail QB Fred McNair three yards deep in the end zone. McNair managed to get the ball away, but the play was ruled as intentional grounding, and, thus, a safety for the Storm....Also recovered a fumbled snap with five minutes left in the game; the recovery set up his second rushing touchdown. Career: Ranks first on league's all-time list in rushing attempts (348) and rushing yardage (1200)...Is second on league's all-time list in rushing touchdowns with 60.
